Default Grinding noise 4 whl low

Ok here the deal. This weekend i used my H3 to pull out a small brush from in front of the house. I had it in 4 low and pulled the roots system out of the ground. No problems, easy task. When i put the shifter into park the tranny make a grinding noise simular to that of a manual tranny with a partially engaged clutch. only does it in 4 low. other than that everything seems fine. Any clues?

When switching your transfer, are you in Park or Nuetral?

I have heard that sound on my old Jeep when I hadn't had it locked in for awhile, but not on the Hummer.
Sorry I can't help more than that.

Neutral. It goes into all gears hi and low fine with no problems or noises durring operation. Only when in 4 low going to park does it do this. the sound is that of maybe 2 splined peices not meshing up.

"If you can't find em, grind em" type of noise?

I get that all the time.Haven't gone through a t-case or tranny yet. Try inching forward/back a little and then putting it in park.

The other week when my son was wheeling I thought I heard the same noise. But I definitely am not being a smart butt here. I noticed he still had the engine reving if you will so I had him stop the vehicle completly and wait actually about 2 seconds and put it in park and no problems. Again i am not saying you were not doing that I am saying it almost seemed to take a second to wind down so to speak? I know that makes no sense but it never made a sound afterwards. Good luck, Mike

I agree Mike, it does almost sound like they are still spinning when trying to engage. May just have to wait a few seconds then try it. I always wait until the truck "feels" settled before I try and change the gears, even from Drive to Reverse. (lost a few tranny's in my younger years)
