Default Grill guard hit and run

I arrived at my H3 to find a note saying that a person had witnessed another vehicle hit my h3 and to call her if I wanted the vehicle information / plate. After an initial (albeit mild) cardiac infarction, my wife and I began to examine my new baby. We found that indeed a car had hit the left front grill guard and scratched the chrome off all the way down. The vehicle that did it I knew had to be a bigger one, and sure enough the police confirmed it was a large dualie type truck that was "alleged by the witness" to have hit it.

Because the person is adamantly denying hitting my car the officer will not be citing her for hit and run. In this case the damage is not extensive so I guess one could argue she did not know, although she is saying the witness is lying... anyway....

The chrome is scratched to the black plastic undercoating. While not a huge scuff/scratch I want it repaired and I will file a claim against her insurance as the police report will state all the facts and have the witnesses statements.

My question is, is Hummer the only dealer I can go to to get estimates on getting that grill replaced? I am sure there is no way to fix it. Can any GM dealer get me a part number and price? If not I have to drive 75 miles to the nearest hummer dealer for a quote.

Thanks for any help.

Rob

Any good body shop should be able to handle it.

Thank goodness for the good people in this world, like your witness

So you think that a body shop can fix it without having to replace the whole grill? I am thinking the grill is plastic with chrome over it. If so I will take it around, we have tons of body shops in the area.

And yes, thankful I have a witness, had the person who scratched it simply left a note I would not have called the police, a hit and run on private property in the State of Arizona is a crime, but proving it can be hard. By law all that is required is to leave a note with your info if you cant find the owner of the veh. Dumb lady.

If you're going to file a claim against her insurance, you might as well claim for a new grill guard.

The body shop should get you a new grill on the work order. Nothing they can do to fix it.

Was it the grill or the grill guard that was scraped up?
If its just the grill you are looking to replace... it might be cheaper and way less hassle to just get one off ebay and change it yourself...it doesnt take much longer than 30 mins to swap the grill. Considering you would probably spend at least just that much time on hold during the process of getting police reports and witnesses and filing claims and blah blah blah...might be easier to just fix it even if there was no justice served.

That's a good deal for a grill!
