Since you're set on having a green illum, just buy a projector kit, which will be cheaper since you already have ballasts you can use, and make yourself legal. It doesn't matter what a local cop says when a state trooper or county catches you.
Are you aware of any projector kits for the H3? I'd love to have a set..

Hater, no need to leave the forum or delete the thread. Others considering this might want to see the good info on here about the proper use and installation of legal HIDs and what is and is not against federal code when it come to the replacement bulbs.

I have been blinded by so many "cheepo" HIDs that I now don't keep the covers on my "OffRoad" lights just so I can blind those stupid F'ers back when they "blind by me". I have one of my lights pointed directly into the oncoming lane just for this purpose. Can't wait for you to be in the oncoming lane with your "greenies" you will not remove and get some of your own medicine!

Depends how much you are wanting to spend. You could go for the STARR's which will run $900+ and are a bolt in assembly application...wfturner runs them. Or, you could get Morimoto's like mine which ran $280?? I think. More work to install (open headlight assembly and insert projector) and not much of a difference in end result compared to the STARR's as long as you pay extra for the Philips bulbs.

Ok, so the lower the number the brighter the light right? Yes, the hummer is for car shows. Also, me and my dad plan to go to the spring break nationals soon with it.
Do you where I can buy the correct projector kit? And um.. can you explain what are ballasts are? Thanks

You don't want to go lower than 4500K (which is them OEM bulb for most vehicle HID's) or you go yellow...6000K is blue. I run 5000K which is more white than blue. I got my kit from retrofitsource. They also have halo's if you want to run them as DRL's, but more work.
Ballasts are the black squares in the link I posted for retrofit. Simple explanation... They ignite HID bulbs. If you want to keep your ballasts, you need to go with a Morimoto stage II kit.
But like I said earlier, Morimoto's are a lot of work to install...but look great!! And Tainter won't have to blast you when you're oncoming

Haterade.....kinda sounds to me like you're more interested in the green color then having retrofit HID's. I haven't done a search (I'll leave that up to you), but maybe someone sells a green tint for your lens where as you can keep your stock halogens and make everyone happy?

Nicely done sir. :cheers to getting the point across and imparting knowledge.

Haterade > maybe Broken Halo is on to something also. Modifications have 2 functions, performance and aesthetics. If you aren't making the headlight mod for performance maybe there is a more inexpensive way to achieve the look you want without spending an additional $300-900 to do it. The "halos" that are available for Daytime Running Lights (DRL's) that airborne mentioned might satisfy your needs.

On a side note > you may find that there is a high level of conformity on some forums. That is not a bad thing, people of like-minds tend to congregate no matter where it may be. There are people around that feel that if you dont take your H3 offroad, you really shouldn't be allowed to own one. What matters is that you do what you want with your vehicle. You are the only one that has all the information about your situation or vehicle, and ultimately the responsibility falls to you. Like it has already been pointed out, saying "well this cop said it was ok" won't work as an excuse neither will "well the hummer forum guys said it was ok."

So take the information you receive and, along with your dad, make the appropriate decision for your situation.

it was nicely said... but look at her other thread.... she already came to this forum knowing that the HID's in her mom's truck blinded people....

I'm done.... I don't care anymore...
