if the water doesn't drain out of the hole then what damage can it do? it's only sitting in a plastic hole... plastic can't rust.

Didn't mean to create any hard feelings here.

Dennis, I saw that there is a small opening at the side of the torx bolt, but the water never ran out after washing the truck and I had to soak it outafter twenty minutes.

importkiller, the fact that the body part is plastic does not mean that the bolt and whatever threaded insert is below itmay, over time, be susceptible to a rustproblem.

Probably won't be an issue, just a design that I don't like, so it's my problem.

I had to take this boltout to install a Gobi rack. That bolt goes to the top of the roll cage or whatever they call that in the non-racing world. It doesnt just hold on that plastic piece...I'm really not sure what its purpose is exactly other than being there as a solid mount for a roof rack.
As for rust..isnt that why we have a100,000 mile corrosion warranty??

Well I'm having hard feelings[sm=boohoo.gif][sm=boohoo.gif]

No seriously Andy..I agree, it is a **** poor design to hold water like that..Mark was right, they should've made a water tight plug or cap for theat hole..But I had to loosen mine up to slide the whole rail to the rear a little to get that little opening you see..That did the trick..Water only stands in there for a few weeks now..Kidding!................Honestly, It drains right out now....
