I spent $56,000 on my boat and I'd **** on that thinggotta love high performance bass boats
I do not have a bass boat. Got an aluminum boat for fishin, love them Walleye. Like HummNBoatin pointed out, Bass Boats are wicked fast when it's nice and flat. I thru a freekin rod out my port engine a few years back with my 34 Scarab (Twin 454 400HP TRS, 3 blade SS props.) stringin one of those out on a glass like morning on the Lake at 72mph. Ouch, that hit the wallet. If I would have had that 8500# shoe in 4-6 foot water the hull gets up and runs accross the waves like a freight train on rails, don't even spill my Gingerale sitting on the flat dash out of the cup holder, and can touch 78mph! How fast can yah get thet Bass boat going in 6 foot seas??

The Scarab is gone, moved on. Offshores rule!!!!!!! [8D] I can be sitting at the Sand Bar in Ontario sipping a Blue waiting on my Burger40 min.s after I dip the Hoist, I do not care how kicked up the Lake gets. Got 440 square miles of playground out my back door!
Bass boats need a chop to get up to full speed....on perfectly flat water they just won't hold full plane. I live 2 blocks from the ocean...my rig is no stanger to 4' swellsI have got her up to 65gps in the ocean but there was too much boat traffic out there to try any more, but there is a constant 3'+ chop on lake hopatcong....I touched 92gps a few times. I'm not talking a cheap chopper gun made boat like a nitro or stratus, or a heavy overpriced rig like a Ranger...Im talkig high performance bass boats...COMPLETELY different animal here...there are 4 major companies...Allison..Bullet...Stroker....Gambler.. .with the Gambler bieng the slowest but most stable of the 4.I am more into performance bass boats than anything else, it's a passion of mine.

No No, not swells, chop. Pointy azz bastards from hell!! Swells, that for the kiddies!! And I mean from a theoretical flat plane lake level..........a 72" swing from top to bottom and a sharp piont at the top and deep crevasse at the bottomcaused by boat trafic, not mother nature. The boat traffic chews it up.
Rollers on Huron, double it it and adjust speed accordingly.
Best way I can describe it, is I can run 150 miles plus in in some nasty schtuff and never duck 40 knots nor splash the Gingerale. Your kinda boat is fast, sometimes wicked fast, but you depend on smooth watter ( 3-4' in my book is calm, really....you got to see it to believe it......) and swells are better yet. I don't care what ya give me, in an offshore w/ 1500 natural aspiration HP 35' and 10,500 # dry, you can go where you want, every time, all the time and haul azz. I ain't throwin no rods racing a bass boat on a flat morning ever again, no gain all pain.
Good news is, in my kind a crud, you can't hardly get on a plane for more that a jiffy. How much does that over powered canoe weigh?
I'm done, not a boat forum, been there done that.

Paul Nichols set the record for fastest bass boat in a 15' Bullet...I think he ran 117 but said he could go 125 if the wind was right.

Doc...what boat board were you on? I've been on a few.
