Got another question
I blew out an upper ball joint the other day and right now I am waiting on parts. I have the Hummer sitting on jack stands and the hug supported.
The question is... I have some play in that shaft. I know its not lined up perfectly because of the busted ball joint but will the slack go away after I replace the ball joint? I gotta replace the boot on that end so I gotta take it out and plan on doing that when I change the ball joints.
Any ideas what I should look for? Or things to worry about?[/align]

the shafts are made to go in/out to allow for suspension travel but there shouldn't be much play or rattling the other way.
While the upper ball joint is out it's an easy halfshaft change as the geared hub can be moved out of the way to get the shaft out. I saw you on the hummerx site as well as the hml, glad you got your problems sorted out. In case you don't already have these bookmarked, for technical questions try the hml knowledge base (many on the hml are hardcore h1 do-it-your-selfers):

or Chuck's site has great articles with pictures and step by step instructions to do most anything hummer:

I see you bought some of Eric's ball joints, a great deal as they are usually about $70 each.

Good deal. Thinking about it now I haveno load on thesuspension on that side and that is why it has slack in it.
Iordered some ball joints from BlueHummer.com buttheyhaven't made it in yet. I bought another boot from AutoZone so when all of my stuff gets here Iam going change both ball joints on thatside and replace mycv boot.
