Good Deal?
I appreciate your honesty. I'd like to start off and say this Hummer is a 2007 as the 2006 deal fell through. What would make this a good deal? All Hummer's are "old" since they are not producing them any longer, so I am not concerned too much about the age. Actually, I want an older vehicle so I don't have to pay $500 every time a headlight goes out and you need the "special tool" or a computer that's half the size of the engine. I like simplicity and have the ability to repair half the issues on my own.
I am a real estate agent and naturally a deal finder. I never pay a hefty price for anything and I've been looking for Hummer's every night for about a month and a half now and I can not find anything much cheaper than this with 110,000 or under miles. As you are a Hummer enthusiast, where can I find a better deal and what would make it a better deal? Dealerships are outrageous and I don't even want to waste my time looking there.
I also do agree with the sound system...I'm not a huge fan. Thank you very much and I've been reading many many threads on this website and they are all very informative.

The 06 has been a whole lot of maintenance by comparison and she has a 125k miles on her and I've done a whole, whole lot of replacing and repairing with her.
The 07 has 75k miles and thank God about half the amount of stuff.
I'd try really hard to find the cleanest unadulterated Hummer H3 I could fine with the best repair record's and good running.
We replaced shocks, tires, a arms, ball joints, hubs, brakes, sway bar bushings, links, transfer case actuator, COP, spark plugs, camshaft actuator, radiator, batteries, evap vent valve control...
I mean it's been a lot of stuff. Her H3 was actually well cared for and she paid 17k a number of years back but even she has agreed she should of bought a newer model with less milage.
Don't get me wrong she loves her H3 lol!
There's been a whole lot more with her H3 and I've got threads discussing that.
Good luck.
I personally would by the newest 2010, lowest miles, pampered H3 I could find...
That 2007 should treat you well.. I recommend checking the serpentine belt to see if its too tight. My factory serp. belt was so tight it took 2 people and crowbars to remove and replace. This tightness, i believe, caused the bearing on my power steering pump to fail...and the idler pulley bearing... So i installed a belt about 3/4" longer than stock after replacing the PS pump, idler pulley, tensioner pulley.
Run whatever synthetic oil is on sale and stock up on AC Delco or Wix oil filters from RockAuto. Replacing the axle fluids is easy enough to do because the differentials have fill and drain plugs. I used Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear lube. Run your tires at or near Max pressure...it will help gas mileage. I ran 65psi in my Duratracs.
Goodluck!!

well folks, I am new here and quickly becoming an H3 fan. I am going to sell my jeep and keep the H3 because I was in an accident (I'll post about it) but needless to say had I taken the jeep I might not be writing this post. With that, ill move into values. I have the early 3.5 (2006) with 170K miles. H3's are hard to find cheap unless they are ragged out. So, if you find one 100k or less miles its probably going to expensive. I got mine for 6K but it had a bad coil, so the owner just wanted out. Otherwise, even with the miles it would be closer to 10K. Let me say that once I changed the coil, it runs like new. Full compression, no oil use etc. I suspect if you maintain these right I could see pushing 300K miles. Anyhow, the resale is high on these but they are Fng built. OK, the 5 cylinder is a bit wimpy for the weight, but as a car guy and a wreck survivor this is a far better value than a jeep if you are an off road type as I suspect most of us are. Now, I also have the 5 speed manual. The car is overweight but the resale values are well justified. You can buy a jeep, lift kits, wheels, accessories you will spend twice as much. Don't get me wrong, jeeps are cool, but an H3 may seem a little pricey but you get a lot for your $
