Default Gas Mileage in Cold Weather

Has anyone noticed a drop in MPG during the cold weather months?

Absolutely....I have noticed this with all my cars for years. I am guessing it is because all the fluids are thicker and all the moving parts turn harder when super cold. It just seems like everything mechanical has to work harder when it is really cold. I live in Nebraska, we just got hit with really cold temps this week and snow. My Hummer is a beast in the snow. New Nitto Terra Grapplers too! But yes, gas mileage sucks & worse in the cold...but I really don't care..My Hummer is my gift to myself for working so hard during the 9-5 grind! Love it!

@Kirkhayes37 thanks for the reply. I feel the same way honest. I have a 06 pewter color been thinking about upgrading the tires and wheels. What size tires and wheels are you running, did you lift the truck up at all? I came to the same conclusions with the cold temps, i didnt buy this beast for gas either, i work damn hard so i bought my H2.

Cheers, Zoom

My tires are Nitto Terra Grapplers 295/60R20. Mounted on KMC Rockstar wheels 20X8.5

Not sure if my Hummer was raised. I bought it with the wheels and replaced the tires. I think it is stock height. Still has airbags on the rear.

Post pictures when you get your new wheels/tires.

Default Winter mpg

I really see the drop in mpg when they switch to the winter blend. I think it's the extra ethanol they put in the gas. And it's not really good for the engine,
Would love to try a tank of pure gas without ethanol to see how much the mpg would improve. Mike 03h2. 05 h2.......

Oh hell, I forgot about the winter blend gas. That could be it too. I don't know much about the difference in blends. Hmmm.
