Good to know. So when I see the yellow light come on I had better be looking for a Gas station quick? Needles on E but it is still saying I have 29 miles!

Most manufacturers build in a generous reserve (about 20 miles) before you actually run out. This is common, and can be very helpful for those people who like to run the tank down all the way.

On some models (other makes), the gauge will read below empty.

I finally filled it up and figured out that I am getting around 13.3 MPG on mine. I haven't pushed the orange light on it too much though. Thankfully I am only 2 miles from a Chevron or Safeway and about 10 from a Costco. I have a 350Z that the orange light comes on at around 30+ miles and I have pushed that thing to the point of fumes but the H2 I'm too nervous about it breaking down on the side of the road. Plus, I heard that you never want to run on empty too often because of the sediments settling at the bottom of the tank? Is this true or something my Dad is just pulling my chain so he never has to come get me when I run out?

Your dads Right, hes just not Pulling your chain..........

When you run your tank down to the lowest, the fuel at the bottom of the tank has partacals of dirt, rust, water and seditives in the Remaining fuel..........when you run it dry, it sucks up that fuel and gets plugged in you Fuel Filter...........

When you Re-fill your tank, from running it dry.......you could have some Running Issues later...........

But it also depends where you get your Fuel at also.......most new Stations have filters at the Pump before the Consumer gets the Fuel.........

I have a 1/4 tank rule...if it gets to 1/4 tank I get it refuled............no matter what.........

Im alwaysGlancing at the fuel, just in case Im onI-95 and theres a Wreck and I have to sit there for a Couple of hours..........crawling along.........down the road.....

My truck just rolled over 75000 miles (2005 H2) and my gas gauge says it's getting 14.7. When I first got the truck, I calculated it and it was right on. So I assume it's been "on" since. I do drive the speed limit and don't -at least I try not to- "gun it" from a stop. As far as what other people have to say about you driving a Hummer... Who cares?

My 2005 H2 is at 65,000Kms and the mileage is rotten, about 8.7mpg or 23.3litres/100k, not great! I drive it normally but love to ram it through snow whenever possible!! :-) I also make sure I have at least a half tank when I am going out anywhere, just in case!

Anyways when people say " Good on Gas?" as they see me at the pump, I just flip them the bird and go about my busniess, unless they want to pay the should shut it!

My H2 gas mileage is really sensitive to tire pressure. I had a tire start to go down very slowly. The gas mileage started to drop almost as quick as the tire pressure. Once tire was fixed gas mileage came right back up.
