Default gas guage problems?

Lately I've been noticing that the guage will read one position when I park the truck, but when Icome back to drive it the next time it will read less. Like a gallon less sometimes. So then I tried shutting the truck off and then back on and same thing so I'm pretty sure it's not being siphoned out or temp changes. Yesterday on a 350 mile trip I noticed that the guage would read the same thing for an obviously long amount of time ( 14.5 mpg uses gas quickly! ) and then I would look again and it would have dropped. Is anybody else noticing this? It's like the computer controlling the guage samples fuel level only once every 10 minutes. Is there a fix for this? I'd like to keep the reading much closer to real time.

I imagine it works on a float. they take time ot settle after movement. when you fill your truck up it shows full right away, not 10 mins later right?

It shows full when I start up, yes. Every time I turn on the ignition the guage goes all the way down (self calibration?) And reads the right/updated level. If the vent were clogged I would have a sluggish guage, but it wouldn't drop if I restarted power to the guage.

It's annoying to come out to the truck in the morning thinking I have 4 gallons and see the low fuel warning when I turn the key.

Hmm, doesn't the H3 fuel sensor/sender use a resistance probe instead of a float?

I lost all my good links when my laptop crashed a couple of weeks ago so I'll have to start all over searching the breakdowns again and see what is in the tank. Some fuel tanks (like on my BMW motorcycle use resistance along a probe or between two pickups to measure resistance through to measure volume.
