dennis, i dont know about the 3.5 motor, but my 3.7 has 10:1 compression and is built to run on 87 octane. now 10:1, to me, is kinda high compression. so do you think i might benefit from a higher octane fuel?
The 3.5L is the same, 10:1...this is where the PCM tuning sets the octane needed...10:1 is what I referred to as Modest compression...Again, the versitily of which octanes will run better, is determined by the PCM tuning in the I5 engine..So yes, GM did leave some room for upward performance adjustment...And the results are proven with PCMforless tunes...<---- a little plug there
Hummerguy was tuned primarily for 93 octane, as I was tuned for 89 ocatane and some leave it at 87 octane...Low compression engines you couldn't do that to....Nor can you dothat with ultra high compression engines....Hope this helps..
