Default Fuel gauge

Last night in the rain my fuel gauge suddenly showed a full tank when it was just under half a tank. Has anyone any ideas how this could happen & how to correct it. I started the engine this morning and it is showing nearly a full tank again.

I'm guessing you cluster is the issue....commen issue with the H2....IDE still check the sender...maybe fill the tank & get the sender to unstick?

Default Fuel gauge

I looked under car at rear and noticed a wire that was chaffed leaving a small section of bare wire without insulation. Could this be the problem with water getting into the wire. What is best fix for this bare section to make sure it is watertight?

Wrapping it with F4 tape should work fine.
