I'm not saying don't disclose what is wrong but on many things you don't get what you put in it to do the repair. I would just tell them the heat/AC doesn't work or work well and that the truck is priced accordingly. Let them decide what it might cost to fix it. Besides some people might not even care if it works much if it is an off road or hunting toy.

I know what you mean 3hummers. Yes I have been driving it 75 miles round trip to work Muddy. There is nothing wrong with the shifting. When i got it from Chris he didnt tell me until I was on my way out there that sometimes it will throw a code and that puts it in safe mode which means it will not shift out of 2nd gear until you turn it off and turn it back on. this resets the computer and then it is fine. It only happens to me about once a month. Its a sensor..they said it was just the VSS reading off cuz sometimes itll read slightly faster than you are going. I havent tried changing the sensor yet. its just throwing the computer off when it reads wrong so it doesnt shift but turnin it off clears it if it happens. I just havent messed with lookin into it cuz it doesnt even happen to me anymore.

Hey 3Hummers, you sound like you have heard of this problem before. I havent tried changing the VSS or anything yet but do you think that is it or is there something else to do to it to fix this problem. I would really feel relieved if I could fix it before selling it so that I feel better about the sale. Yeah I understand what you are saying Muddy but yes it is perfectly fine to drive daily. I hit a deer in my Mercedes SLK and cant afford to fix it till I sell the Hummer cuz i just took the money and paid it off so I use the Hummer as my daily driver.

Haven't actually done it. Looked into it when I bought my 97 but here in Socal the hot/cold cycles aren't that severe. Like I said I have been in the mountains in the winter and desert in some pretty hot times and thought it was ok. My 97 is not something I have to drive so if I were going to Palm Springs in August it would not be the first car in my little collection that I would pick. hummech is a new member here and "the" Hummer expert. I am sure he could give you his .02 worth and it would be more accurate than what anybody else can tell you.

Ok thanks 3hummers, i Pm'd him. Theres a few other things I'd like to ask the H1 Guru. I need to sell this stinking thing asap. Im trying to debate the best way to sell it...they dont seem like they are selling well on ebay. There is a local dealership that has used H2's and he said he'd sell it for me but its my daily driver right now. Im totally broke now...my savings have finally ran out. KBB shows mine books for about $32,300. I would take less than $28k for it. I'll list it for $30k cuz the more the merrier but its gotta go!

Things are slow out there. If you need to move it fast I would put what I have to have for it out there right up front. A lot of trucks are staying on the market a long time. It is definitely a buyers market right now.

I'm not familiar with GM type VSS, but I had an issue with my Ford truck a few years ago. the speedo wouldn't work correctly and the trans would slam-shift when the signal would come through. On the Ford there are 3 sensors. I think 2 are for the ABS (front) and the one in the rear pumpkin for speedo(speed wheel is sandwiched between the carrier and ring gear). I replaced thepick-up sensorin the pumpkin with a 6" cresent and the cost was less than $10. No problems since.
