Consider for 5 seconds the advances in auto technology over the last 3 decades. There's alot more under the hood than your old 77 ford. So no, a tech just can't pop the hood and say yep there's your problem.

My 06 started off doing that. Come to a stop, rpms dip, near stall etc. Wound up need the tranny overhauled, fine after that. Last place I would have thought to start though.

torq converter lock was suggested for this type of problem some time back.
its like not pushing the clutch in a stick shift, when u stop.
these torq conv are a lot different than my 74 econoline c4!

Thanks for the ideas I hope its the throttle position sensor because that would be a quick fix. It went back to the shop today so hopefully on the next few days it will be good to go . The plus side to all of this is she runs really good when its not coming to a stop

It ran like it was new once I did all of that but the engine blew last week and I'm not quite sure on the particulars of it. I was waiting until I got the service sheet to post. They are waiting on the new engine now.

Wow. This is some odyssey. Sorry to hear about all the probs. you've been having. Hopefully it won't have anymore once they put the new motor in and like another guy said above, it'll be like you have a brand new truck.
Keep us posted on what they'll be doing

Its been a headache like no other i've had. I think this is probably what should have been done before instead of playing guessing games on everything. Fourtanetly I enjoy my H3 to much to hold this against it. Overall I do believe it is a reliable vehichle but I seemed to get the bad apple of the bunch. Hopefully it's back next week and I can update you guys.

So heres the service sheet.
Tear down and inspect for internal damage. Excessive metal in the oil pan. Found the balance shaft chain broke. #1,2 Rod bearings spun. Crank gauled. #2,3 Rod bearings spun. Crank scored.
Installed NEW engine.
So nowI have a new engine, transfer case, radiator and other crap. I should be golden for awhile.

Im an old school mechanic myself, but sounds like the theory of the "locked torque converter" might have done the damage??????? Just hate to see the new engine be damaged???

I would agree that the TPS and the MAF are gonna go on these vehicles anywhere around 80k miles. Delphi makes superior electronics IMO however one thing is constant THEY ARE ELECTRONICS!!! lol Just my two cents.
