Default Front Diff Leak

I recently replaced the main shaft seal in the front diffrential gear in my 2003 H2 with 90k miles however below the seal it is "wet" with gear oil. I've heard this might not be a good sign but can someone explain what is going on and what the long term prognosis?

It should not still be leaking if you replaced the seal (with the correct seal). Did you inspect the shaft for nicks or other signs of damage?

I would clean it with break parts cleaner and check it regularly to make sure you are not seeing residual oil from before your repair.

or clean it and put in black light dye and check it regularly with a black light.

Thanks fir the comments. I did confirm I installed the correct seal and inspected the shaft and case before installation. In addition, I confirmen the breather line was not obstructed causing a pressure build up in the gear. Still, just today, I have a small drip of gear oil directly under the shaft seal.

Pulling your hair out for $2.10. Got to love it. Glad you figured it out.
