First time buyer (possibly)
So I came across a 1996 hummer wagon for sale the other day.
6.5 turbo diesel
41000 original miles
Cepek wheels 17in
Yokahma tires 37x12.50R17 (Original rims, tires w/runflats with sale.)
Cepek shocks w/remote control
3 ½ in stainless straight exhaust ( old exhaust good available with sale.)
Predator roof rack
Led lights
Dual fuel tanks
New Stereo and speakers.
Tinted Windows
Power windows and mirrors
Remote door lock
New Hyvac system with rear heat and air
Tinted windows
New Interstate Batteries
New remote mounted ECM
Electric Wench
Looks cool obviously and clean. I have not seen it in person yet.
The main concern would be the #8 cylinder. I asked the guy and its got the original motor still in it. I really dont want to get it home and have to spend $15000 for a new motor in a few months. Hes asking $45,000 for it which I think is a little high, but I might be able to talk him down some. What do yall think.

Is the new HVAC the upgraded 97.5+ unit or just another old style unit. Low miles. No interior pictures. Price is a little high but if it is an upgraded HVAC unit that closes the gap some. Know any H1 guys that can look at it with you?

Yeah, try to take another H1 guy if you can post a location. There's always a number of little things to look out for which can easily cost $5-10k if you are not careful.
Check the transmission. Even if it isn't low it would be good to check the T-case. If a lot of fluid leaks out then you have the Vampire, which is the next worse thing after a #8.
Is he original owner? Some people can run a maintenance history if you have a VIN.
Pull up the floor mats and carpet and the cup holder on the dog house. Mine had silt and gravel under them showing it had been driven through water. Not saying that is a bad thing, but it may help you talk him down...
