Default Eye-five to Alpha?

Current vehicle is an '07 Adv/Lux auto. I enjoy the 5's grunt and cannot really afford any negative comments, however, a V8 H3 is a dream come true - but my concerns surround:

1) V8 is too nose heavy to throw around like I5
2) Final drive gearing
3) 200 pounds heavier
4) no stick offered...
5) price...
6) same wheels
7) could maybe squeeze out a deal on 08' base H2 w/ 6.2v8

I had my sights set on the Alpha, but couldn't afford it at the time I saw mine. So I went with the I-5 and I can't complain at all. The V8 does have its positives (that do outweigh its negatives), but I am happy with the I-5. I think it would come down to what kind of deal you can get.

Default I-5 the underdog

I'd jump on an Alpha in a heartbeat if I didn't stand to lose at least $5K in trade. I'd found an awesome new Alpha out the door at $36K with a set up identical to my 06 Adventure, even the same Morocan trim, but just couldn't pull off the trade. I don't need a hot rod, but we do want to pull a travel trailer, and the I-5 is really embarrasing for that. Plus we have quite a few steep hills in this area and I really need to dig into the gas pedal to get it to go. I've discovered that it doesn't matter a bit when I get it on the mountain though, that sucker is in it's glory! So I'll live with the underdog I-5, not by choice.

According to GM, the Alpha is only 100# heavier than the I5, 50# of that is the CI front diff? I think your 200# is probably realistic.

Mod the I5 with an Intake, PCM tune, and CAT back, and for under $1000 you have some great drivability improvements and that is still a heck of a lot cheaper than the Alpha.

...the PCM tune... spooks me in regards to warranty, so would it be better buy another PCM one stock and one tuned? $$$ i know, but more control over all? Thanks.

The I5 is nice, is it true there is a Diesel version of the H3s overseas? Just some rumors heard.. If I were to go for the Alpha I think Id look at a H2 instead, unfortunately work at GM and we're getting too many cutbacks
