Engine Detail
I spent about and hour recently getting my engine pretty clean. I used shrink wrap and rubber bands to cover the alternator and any electrical clips the best I could before I started to mist on the water. I do recommend using a garden hose sprayer that has a mist option and at no point use any high pressure. The only cleaner I used was Simple Green at a 50/50 mix. I picked up a NEW toilet brush to help with hard to reach areas but for the most part a sponge and tag will do just fine.
Before pic (this was 3 years of build up picked up in Alaska)

After the scrub down,

To speed up the drying I used an air hose with a few feet of stand off to keep from forcing water into places I didn't want water. The final drying I used a mix of rags and shop towels and than paper towels. It would be a good idea to start the truck and let it run for 15-20 minutes to help dry up any water you could get to with rag.
Enjoy
