I saw this auction and it stated that the ASK A SELLER thingy wasn't working!!

I CONTACTED the "seller" USING the Ask A Seller and informed them that someone STOLE THEIR ID!!

I do this ALL THE TIME!! Any time it lists an e-mail and say NOT to use the ASK A SELLER, I KNOW it's a SCAM!!!

 

 

I think Ebay has a bigger fraud problem than they admit.

 

A friend of mine got scammed out of $5,000 last year on a tractor the exact same way. She never used ebay before and didn't know how it was supposed to work. She got very lucky and actually got all of her money back this year from Western Union. The scammer was unable to pick up the money with the identification they had. The Feds helped her track the money down and helped her get it back. She was so embarrassed by the whole thing she didn't want to tell anyone she fell for it.

Some of these scams are hard to catch. You have to be really alert.

 

My brother-in-law buys and sells cars on there all the time. I try to tell him to be careful, but he's the "couldn't ever happen to me" type. I really only buy smaller things on there, don't think that I would ever buy a car on there. I really need to be able to see and touch it before I buy it.

I have bought quite a bit of stuff off of Ebay. Mainly coins, horse tackand Hummer parts.

 

but you took care of that for her...

there was a set of Alpha wheels and tires on sale in Alabama a few days ago. The auction page said the seller had websites with Ebay in other countries and might speak a different language. pretty scary. Auction got pulled before it was completed for some reason by the seller.
