Default Dreaded silver dash paint scratched off…

Spent the last couple days searching the net for an answer…I recently moved up to an H2, 2003.

It is scratched on the door pulls, console, and the bezelaround the radio has anyone been able to locate the correct paint? I would liketo pull all these parts and scuff them and repaint them the correct original color.I reminds me of and argent grey/silver paint, was thinking of checking out ahobby shop or maybe Eastwood for the correct color, any thoughts?

Most body shops have the paint cameras that can take a picture and come up with the right mix. Most body shop supply stores can even put it in an aerosol can for you if you want to DIY.

I spent a lot of time having three different body shops mix touch up paint from paint codes they thought would work. Even went to a GM dealer. None of them got it even remotely close. So the lesson is...don't rely on finding a paint code.

Like Cali Phil says, a paint reader may be your best bet. I ended up mixing up a small bottle from several other grays, blacks, and silvers that I had. I finally got a close match just for touching up.

But what I will say is it is not easily available. I hope someone knows otherwise...because I would still like a touch up bottle that is the true dash color.

Thanks guys, thats what I will do I have a long time buddy that works for an auto paint store I will have them scan it.

I think what I will do is paint my console parts, the large center radio bezel and the 2 small other parts the one to the left and right side. This way it will all match.

Also way thinking about also painting the above mentioned parts in the body color, think it's called redfire. 1/2 of me says it maybe ricey ?

Let me know the paint code/mixture recipe so I can make some up here. I am from a little town and none of the paint shops had the paint color scanner machine.

Thanks.

No problem, I know when they scan it and mix it the match isn't a 100% but it's what they call a blend able match, from what I have always been told.

I have the paint code, my local body shop supply house did match it. Its about 99% of the original, the color is near perfect could have used just a touch more aluminum flake. When I was spraying my panels at one point I couldn't tell were the new finish from the old finish it matched that close.

I used this from Home Depot. It is very close, make sure you get stainless (I couldn't find it on their site).
