Not much damage, It pushed the bumper a tad closer to the body on the drivers side, put about a 1 inch scrach on the bumper and it did mash the backup camera.

Been There!.... Done That!.....
The victim was a 2001 Mustang. I wanted to back up to get into a parking spot. The mustang lady was way too close to my behind. I actualy looked behind and out the mirrors before I backed up. It did $3700 damage to her car. Pealed back the hood and crushed the lights and radiator. The cop wanted to see the other vehicle so I showed the damage on the hook. The cop took his thumb and wiped the paint off the hook said to me " Boy, aren't you glad you drive a Hummer?" The lady looked at him and said "NO!!! I'M NOT!"
Oh well. Since then I bought a camera, window lens, and sonar sensors. I'm still freaked about backing up.

Ouch!! Thats a pretty good slam. Mine didnt do that much damage but I had a little more damage on my own. It scraped the metal lower bumper a little bit. i'll probably just get that sanded and sprayed myself...or leave it as a warning to other cars thathang outwhere they cant see my mirrors.
The good thing is that my insurance company called me and since I'm not making a claim, I dont have to paya cent!!!! It's a miracle! I was waiting for the catch and myagent kept explaining, nope, you dont have to pay anything. I still don't believe him. Granted I give them lots of money per year but when I see a system like insurance actually working....it makes me a little skeptical.
What kind of sonar sensors did you get? I was thinking about getting at least that until I can afford a Pioneer AVIC Z1 with the camera and hard drive and all that fun stuff in a screen that will fully replace the stock stereo. Mostly just for parallel parking the bastard. I always look in the building windows to try and use them as a mirror to see how far I have to go back. If I had something that would guide me in from about 4 feet, I'd be in good shape.

Just stick an old pool cue in the trailer hitch receiver. During a back up, when you hear a "crack", you're far enough! Paint all of it white, with a red tip.
I don't need no stinkin back up camera!

Yeah, my insurance guy told me that I would not get a increase in rates.... Yet.... I asked what that meant and he said, (He was reading a response word for word) "Next timeI renew my insurance it could go up". Last time I had an accident was about 30 years ago.
The backup sensor is the http://bigboys-customtoys.com/store/...EDBBCAC3F3B%7D
It's somewhat cheap, and easy to install and take back off. Works good to. You might find it cheaper than this. Just Google around.
The Camera is another cheap wireless unit. The VR-3 camera. I picked it up for around $100. http://www.techliving.com/archives/2..._your_ca.shtmlGo to Walmart, etc.
The lens I picked up at the local auto shop. Around $29.
All of this crap did help my visability, but it's still kinda scary.

Automobile Insurance: Not reported, nor a Police Report, your policy won't go up. Obviously, to settle with the victim might be the best choice if there is a mutual agreement. However, for anything greater than a fender-bender could be a different story. Car Insurance is not cheap, but it's a shame that we have to go around it for small claims in order to avoid a possible policy increase. I barery ran into an 06' Nissan minivan, you could see the shape of my right front side tow hook on the minivan rear bumber. Total repair cost: $980.00, for a new bumber, paint job, labor and a rental car for the victim(2 days). The H3 tow hooks are unpredictible.....like sharks !

My insurance is still claiming my rates wont go up and i shouldn't pay a dime because they are paying for the whole thing. I'm still waiting for that catch. Needless to say I'll be keeping some extra money in the bank account for a few months here.

Anybody try this before?
