2007 H3x, white, 75K mi, a real head turner ---- I have lost the capability to disengage the drive axles by depressing the 2 wheel and 4 wheel buttons for 10 seconds and illuminating the red "N" lite on the dash between the 2 buttons.

What's required to restore this capability and approx cost?

You might want to try shifting the T Case into Lo Lock, drive for a short distance, like 30-50 ft., then shift back up to High (review the owner's manual) and then see if it will go into Neutral following the steps in the manual.

Does your truck shift into 4hi lock and 4lo with no problems? Sounds like you could have the shift fork issue, but correct me if im wrong someone, shouldnt his 2007 have the metal fork...?

If your Tcase shifts with no problems and what doc suggested doesnt help, thats a real head scratcher....good luck, keep us posted.

I did exactly as he suggested and the red "N" lite comes on in 10 sec s just like it's designed to do following the procedures in the owner's manual.

Just to be sure I tried the normal procedure in the owner's manual 1 hr later and the axles disengaged just like they are designed to do.

The only difference I notice is when engaging the axles after they have been disengaged for towing I'm experiencing a louder "clunk" than before. Sounds like something needs grease????? Any ideas to convert the "clunk" back to a quieter "click" when the Hummer was new????

i think its good to at times shift to every combination possible just to exercize the mechanisim. i use my back field and dig up the turf a little.

 

no response so far on how to eliminate the "clunk" noise when re engaging axles after towing behind motor coach. I'd like to hear a "click" instead of a hard "clunk". Maybe something needs grease? If so, where?
