Dilemma
I have wanted an H2 since I first saw them. I think it's a beautiful vehicle.
I bought a 2006 H2 last year but I wasn't happy and took it back.
I wanted white but couldn't find one so I ended up with pewter. The color was ok, but I didn't like it.
It had the spare on the rear arm which I think is inconvenient for accessing the rear especially in the garage, and the vehicle needed about $1800 worth of repairs.
To be honest, I also felt weird driving such a large vehicle, not maneuvering it, just being in it looking down on most other vehicles. It's also an attention getter and I don't care for attention that way.
Now the dilemma. I still love the look of the H2, it's just beautiful.
I found another one that I like, but this time I really do like the color. It's blue and I've never considered a blue vehicle before.
It's a 2005 , 121k miles, has the moonroof, nav, side step bars, spare on the inside, black interior, everything I want except the grille guard.
I'm going to see it tomorrow and I'm hoping to feel that it's the one and that the color and needed repairs was the reason I didn't love the one I had, I'm also hoping it has nothing to do with the fact that I love driving a manual transmission.
If I don't like it I won't be able to explain it. How can I love the the way it looks both inside and out, the interior space and not want it to be mine?

I appreciate the feedback.
I didn't buy it.
The H2 is out of state. I've never traveled to buy a car before and all the ones I like within a 2 hour drive sell in 3 - 4 days, so I thought I'd take a shot.
About halfway during my trip the dealer calls and says the were getting it ready since they knew I was coming and the airbag light came on, the mechanic checked it out and said it has a bad SDM module. He said he would deduct the cost of the repair from the price, about $650.
Then I called my mechanic to ask how much it would cost. He said worst case $480 for labor, but the part has been discontinued and he would have to find one online. He also said he's been working on Hummers since they first hit the road and he has never has to replace that part before.
I was ready to turn back but my brother wanted to check it out.
We get to the "dealer" and I was immediately put off. There was nowhere to park, the guy I'd been talking to for the past week and during the drive had an emergency and had to leave before I arrived. Coincidence, maybe, but felt weird to me.
The guy that greeted me didn't shake my hand and didn't introduce himself.
I had to use the restroom after the long drive, and there were no paper towels.
The lobby looked like an old warehouse with some thrift store furniture and a floor rug.
They pull the H2 around and man was it pretty.
It had rust on the side step bars which is common so I wasn't concerned and it had some rust on the visible parts behind the wheels.
It had no gas in it, it was on e. Now, they knew I was coming and wanted to drive it around but didn't bother to put gas in it?
My brother and I took it around a shopping center, both of us already feeling the place is shady. When I applied the brakes the pedal was on the floor.
I turned off the radio and there was a vibrating sound coming from the little speaker over the driver's seat.
I took it back and told them I'm concerned about what else might be wrong since the SDM is bad and the warranty only covered major components like the engine and transmission. I was previously told it would cover everything since they inspect all of their vehicles and make any necessary repairs.
He says the vehicle is in great shape, there is nothing else wrong with it and the SDM is a common issue in the H2. I told him my mechanic says otherwise.
I then tell him about the noise in the speaker. He knocks on the garage door for the mechanic. The garage looked off too. It had two doors, one bay was empty, the other wasn't what I'd expect for a professional garage. It had a lift, standing tool case, and an air compressor.
He had his mechanic take a look and he said it's just the fan blowing it's not a problem. I told him I have been in several H2's and I've never heard that sound before.
He says "so you're going to let something so minor stop you from buying it? You said your mechanic is a Hummer mechanic he could probably fix it."
I said "you're telling me these things are normal and I disagree, which again makes me wonder what else is wrong with it that your warranty doesn't cover, I'm going to pass, thanks for your time".
I will never travel that far for a vehicle again, lesson learned.
I only went because I really thought this was it and figured I had to take the chance.
I checked reviews of their dealership before I went and most were positive, they probably reviewed themselves.

From your comments, it sounds like an H2 isn't the right vehicle for you...you're always going to get some attention with it, not always positive...and there will be repairs.
How about an H3? Smaller, cheaper, less attention.

I already have an H3.
The type of vehicle wouldn't have made a difference in this scenario.
The repairs weren't the issue. The issue was trust.
Last week he said 3 month bumper to bumper warranty since I'm out of state, then during the drive he said major components only.
The brake pedal touched the floor dude, would you have been comfortable driving it 6.5 hours after everything I said above? Not to mention the buzzing in my ear would've driven me nuts on the drive home.
It may have been different had I been able to let my mechanic check it out but that wasn't possible.
I didn't get there until after 5pm so getting another mechanic to check it was also out of the question.
I was relying on the bumper to bumper warranty to get any needed repairs since i couldn't have it checked beforehand, but all of a sudden the terms changed.
I'm not one for spending $20k and hoping for the best without knowing what I'm getting into.
If you are, more power to you.

Its good you chose to walk away, most times your instinct will drive you in the right direction. If you post your location i am sure most members would be glad to give you info on sales in there area that might be of interest to you. Good luck and as with most things a little time will solve your h2 craving.
