this type of veh is new to me,all i do is first time. i saw some poor dark badly lite videos on plugs but it went well,still runs!!! no difference.. 59000 miles

now brakes.
ive always had bleeder valves stick or break on old cars.
any input here?. i guess i should open bleeder when pushing the pistons back huh?
i dont want to pull the caliper unless the roter looks bad.
any input on bleeding or flushing fluid??
i wantt to be ready for what i may not be thinkibg of so thanks for any help...
oh, dot 4 fluid? or dot 3?

 

I would not have bothered changing plugs at 59K, they easily go 100k. It's not a sport.

I would not open anything to compress the brake caliper pistons, not needed, and I would not change the brake fluid. There are video tutorials on how to change H3 brakes all over the net, about as easy as it gets.

ok on that doc, i just get nervous about plugs in aluminum for? years!
now i want to inspect brakes and the wheel is stuck, cant budge, lubed the hub and waiting a while.first time in 6 yrs i pulled a wheel, no flats.
i guess the fluid will go up when pistons are reset so ill watch the master cylinder level.

i see its dot 3 if needed

WOW! brakes are good at 59000!!,,,about 1/4 in left on pads so ill stash the new pads for a later date.

 

recap, i noticed that the inside pads were worn slightly more than the outside. decided to pull the pins and clean/polish as advised. the clips were new to me,going thru a hole in the pin. the pins were stuck and hard to get out.
a wire wheel treatment got them smooth and i used brake grease going back in. the clips seem dainty but look like they will stay in the holes.
im hoping this will keep the pads moving evenly??
the clips and remounting the wheels was the toughest part, heavy wheels!!
ill recheck lug nut torque tomorrow.

did not need to mess with fluid.

 

This reminds me that it's time to check my pads. '06 w/ 75k miles. They looked meaty when I checked around 50k miles.

 

yeah, im surprised how long stuff lasts. orig tires about 1/2 worn, might go another yr if ok in snow. btw, no rotation in 59000 and even wear!
