Has anyone installed this on their H2? I saw a thread with nice instructions, but on a H3. Apparently the H2 filler bucket will need to be twisted off Vs. popped off on the H3. Also the 4 screws that screw into the filler bucket along with the 2 sided stick tape is unimpressive to say the least, I was hoping for something more solid as far as attachment. Just wondering if anyone has installed this and if so is it holding up. Thanks.

 

I'm not sure about that specific door but I do believe most of the fuel doors bolt to the filler bucket. The bucket is only held in by 2 plastic clips on each side of the bucket and the 3 bolts holding the filler neck to the bucket. Not the greatest design IMO but it works.


I was going to buy a black locking lid but just painted my stocker in crinkle coat black and called it a day. If someone is that bad off they need to steal some gas then go for it I guess.

 

After the 3 bolts are removed what is the best way to remove the filler bucket?

 

Has anyone removed their fuel filler bucket on their H2? Tried late last night to turn it counter clockwise and didn't want to force it. Just talked to the sales guy who has installed these and he said it should twist off. If anyone has removed this please let me know. I just don't want to force it unless it is the correct way of removing it. Thanks.

 

No it doesn't twist off. You remove the filler neck with the 3 bolts then there are clips of a sort molded into the bucket. You have to pull these back towards the inside of the bucket if that makes sense to free the bucket from the body of the truck. It's hard to explain and kind of annoying to do but once you do it you'll understand how simple it is.


The tape you can just work free. I never put new tape on mine when I reinstalled it.

 

Completed the Install. On my 05 H2 it was less than a quarter turn counter clockwise for the fuel filler bucket to come out after the 3 screws were removed. Thanks for all the input.
