Defender roof rack - do I need the factory racks?

Defender roof rack - do I need the factory racks?
Hey guys-
I've got an 07' H3 with no roof racks and would like to get a rack of some sort to mainly carry my kayaks..
Do I need the factory roof racks first?

I would purchase the Defender factory roof rach mounting brackets that attach directly to the roof rails instead of attaching it to the OEM cross bars. You will get more strength from these brackets and the rack will sit a closer to the roof. Any dealer of Defender Roof racks can get these for you.
