Default dealer can't program remote

Hello all. New to this forum but this looks like THE place to be for info.
I just bought a 2006 h3. It came with only one non chip key. Works fine. I bought a remote from the dealer but it could not be programed. They tried twice. They said it would require more diagnostic time ($). The car fax said an ignition switch was replaced at a dealer a couple of years but this dealer said that would not affect the remote problem. Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks doc. As they did not charge me for a failed try to program I'll try another dealer. It's too bad only a dealer can do it.

I'm not 100% positive but I think it's programmed to the master switch assembly.

I pasted this in another post as well but the dealer should be able to do that. I know it's been a few months - but did you get it to work?

TECH II scantool

programming passed through the scan tool into the module from the TIS2WEB or TIS2000.

TECH II scantool or the MDI tool, and access to GM TIS2WEB programming utility.
This is found at all GM dealers, but not at a lot of aftermarket repair facilities.

It did turn out to be the bcm. Dealer replaced and was then able to program. My message screen is also more active. I,E. low tire pressure warning has now started to show up. Also oil change reminder. I did all the steps to rectify the low tire warning but it must be a sensor in one of the tires. By the way I have another post on some water leaks that I fixed. That was a pain. Otherwise it's running fine.

Here is all those steps, inflate the tires on the ground to exactly 38PSI cold.
