Default Dash Lights

Hey Everyone.

So recently some of the lights on my dash pannel, the ones that light up the stereo buttons etc have gone out, and it can get frustrating during night time drives not being able to see them clearly..

I went to the only qualified GM mechanic where I live and he said there is nothing to be done...

Im sure there has to be a way to get behind the pannel and replace some bulbs no?

Has anyone had to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Never did it on a Hummer radio, but disassembled a Corvette radio (and the HVAC, IP and all the switches) and installed blue LEDs, so it can be done.

The little bulbs are soldered to the circuit board, but if you are good with a LOW watt soldering iron, you should have no problem. Possibly, online somewhere the bulbs can be located.

Good write-up. Remember, the radio will be a lot more complicated, but really not hard to do; (so long as your not doing LEDs).
