Cruise Control Issue - Brake Light??
Hello All,
The cruise control on my 2007 H3 stopped working. Took it to the dealership and was told that I needed a "brake switch" and about $175 in labor to get it fixed ... to which I responded "give me back my keys."
So I go on the interwebs and look for said "brake switch," and could not find it. Is a "brake switch" the same thing as a "Brake Light Switch" (OE p/n ACD1596H)?
Lastly, has anyone ever had to do this? Difficulty? Time involved?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated?

I am going to "assume" you have an AT.
You are aware that when cruise control is on and you put your foot on the brake it goes off. The brake pedal assembly bracket has several parts to it, including not only the stop lamp switch, but a cruise control switch. If the switch goes bad, the default is NO CRUISE. Makes sense right? Otherwise if you were buzzing down the highway and the switch puked you couldn't get the cruise control off.
They were using a loose term, it is not truly a brake switch, but rather the cruise control switch which is in the brake pedal bracket assembly controlled by the brake pedal. You used to be able to order the complete assembly as a plug & play, now you have to order pieces (unless you find one in stock at some dealer) or distributor. Don't matter, the parts are cheap.
Anyways PN 15109338 which has to be ordered with 10418917, both are about $22.00 total, comes as a package. Search it on Google or GM part supply sites. Check around, make sure your truck is included, which I think it is.
#4 is the cruise switch with the required retainer #2 (#2 & 3 are the same PN 10418917). #5 is the stop lamp switch and needs the same retainer.
