Default Considering H3

I've owned several 4x4 Suv, trucks and also Jeeps. I would like to hear the good and bad things about the H3 that people have been experiencing. I've been looking at low mileage used. Is there anything that I should be looking for that was a real bad problem with thesevehicles ????
Thanks for any help you can give me before I buy one !!! (in the next two weeks) Dondobe

There's not really much to it, get the Lux package and sunroof or better for a great rig.

If you can find a 2007 model, go for it because of lengthened warranty and slightly improved 3.7L engine.

As you can see at the bottom of my post I have an 07' Lux/Adv. Aside from a steering column issue which has been resolved, there have been no problems. I love the vehicle but it has its quirks - these are not issues to dissuade you from purchasing, but in my opinion, noteworthy. Rear view visibility is dismal at best and the 35" mounted spare doesn't help. It is slightly underpowered when merging into fast moving traffic (I know, it isn't a sportscar and if that is what I wanted than that is what I should have purchased- it's not). Aside from some additional rear seat space which would bea plus, I would recomend an H3 to anyone who is asking -- and purchase another for myself if I had to do it all over again. Hope this helps & best of luck.

What I noticed while first driving my H3 is the bad head light. But many guys here changed the bulbs and they're glad with the results. Another thing is the back door with the spare tire. If you don't park on flat ground it can be really hard to hold this door open because of it's weight.

I would recommend a late '07 model if you are going "used." You get the improved 3.7L engine, improved placement of window/mirror controls on the arm rest, etc.

You should browse other/older threads to pick up more details. But forums are usually used to discuss "problems" so don't let that project too negatively on the H3. 99% of us love our H3.

The 06's had a slight issue with the PILLARs around the top of the windshield cracking and then rattling in the wind. Not a big deal and they will replace if they haven't already. I own my 2nd AND 3rd H3 right now. I love them and will keep buying them. No major issues with any of them so far. You will love it if you get it!

I have an early 07, with the old style window switches (Mfg date 1/07) and it has been all the truck I bought it for. There is nothing wrong with an 06 w/ the L52 3.5L which makes 220HP and 225TQ, but the 07 does have a smoother and improved LLR 3.7L which makes 242HP/TQ and a longer warranty. I drove my old truck longer to get to the 07.

I have not had any issues yet. All the 3s are pretty darn good trucks.

Last thing, the very early 06s had the vast majority of the head valve issue, which should be fixed by GM if you do go that route.

Get the Adventure and Lux Package with a Sunroof!
Maybe an Alpha with the V8 if you have the need for speed
You can't go wrong!
