My suspect is the alpha has less of these issues than the I5
I had about 38,000 miles on my H3x and for about 4 months i was loosing coolant, very slowly. Went to the dealer and they could not find anything wrong??? about a month later the tranny started shifting funny, check the dip stick. Pink and foamy. back to dealer. All the things I have read is this bad for the tranny... What does the dealer do, new radiator and FLUSH THE TRANNY. Well 5 months later back to dealer becaue sometimes the tranny would not go into drive. after much discussion.. new tranny. I guess it's common for the tranny cooler to go, but mostly in hotter climates.

Well got confirmation today my easy care warranty will cover the new rad and tranny.
I replaced water pump 3 months ago so they were all over that looking for a way out but I actually caught that before the wife even ran it a mile. .....
FYI if you have a 06-07 and dont have warranty or its about up be smart spend the 2-3 bills and get a new radiator.....if I keep this thing forever I will do an aluminum one with a separate tranny cooler, electric fan.

Since you are getting a new radiator, take a glance over this page and see what I learned this week while getting my new radiator. You might want to think about adding this additive to your new radiator to keep it in good shape. You don't need a different radiator with separate trans cooler. You just need to counteract the damage caused by electrolysis from the DexCool. At about $9 it is much cheaper and easier. This lifelong radiator guy told me that the factory radiator is better than anything you will get aftermarket. And he showed me some radiators that were apart and showed me why. I'm sold! According to him, you might want to ask and make sure you are getting a GM radiator and not some aftermarket thing that the dealers can get cheaper. I was amazed when I saw the difference.

Okay. I'm just repeating what I was told by someone who has been in the radiator business all of his life and took the time to show me radiators taken apart and what happens to them. I guess that info is not for everyone... Absolutely no offense to you, but I think I will take his side in this one since it is his job. He wasn't trying to sell me anything because by this time I had already bought from him what I was going to buy.
BTW - there is no plastic involved with the trans cooler. You can take the plastic radiator completely off of it and still have a closed steel system. Something is breaking down he steel. Radiators have been heat cycling for years since that is their function. No reason for them to break down because of that. Electrolysis makes sense and has been proven.
