Hey guys..
I have a 07 Tactical Edition. When I let off the gas I get a clicking sound. happens every time when I'm above 10mph.
PLEASE HELP!!

also my engine fan runs for a long time after start up.

 

I moved this to the H3 section where H3 questions are supposed to go..... like where it said in the Drivetrain section:"

Anyways, don't know what your clicking sounds like, but you could check the U-Joints and also the front half shafts for play/wear.


You truck has a clutch fan, when you first start them up and begin to drive most GM trucks with a clutch fan make some noise until the clutch completely disengages. When you say a long time, do you mean like 5 minutes or 5 miles, or longer?

I guess it sounds more like a spinning ratchet. I have all my gears, it runs fine. its just when I let off the gas, it makes this noise... I can t figure it out. sending it to the dealership tomorrow or the next day.

The fan runs for quite a while...I can go down the road for a few miles and its still on. turns off after a bit. not really I big deal, I just got rid of a 6.0 that wasn't as noisy so I was just curious.

 

I'm thinking this is the source of the noise.... this is the front drive shaft coming out of the transfer case...I don't know what its suppose to look like. but I put my hand on this and kinda rocked it back and fourth and it sounds like my suspected noise...

 

Prop shaft cv joint. Pull 4 bolts and see if it is shot. Easy to replace.

 

yeah I just watched a vid on he shaft replacement... I'm going to go pro the sound maybe tomorrow and post it...
