yes, something like that.. i have had a couple of them to start with and i did the process of elimination untill i got to those stupid caps. on the first one i removed all of them off the wheels and the noise went away, i had another one in here with the same problem and swapped the wheels with that one and the noise came back... now i get all of those people that call AM General about that noise in southern california.
that noise would drive me nuts too if my car had it..

It sounds like you know what your talkin' about ! Is your shop in Huntington ? I live in Newport by the airport. Its always good to have a Hummer Mech in the rolodex ! I've had the wheels off and I don't remember any thing chrome or plastic or 20 of them, but sometimes I can't find my keys ! I have the older 8 spoke wheels with CTIS and I don't think their two piece but I will check in the morning for some plastic inserts.

hello Lee,
i used to work in huntington beach and now i work in tustin. if you have the older style wheels that don't have the chrome caps then you problem is the metal ctis covers.

Default Solved !!

Ok now I know what happen when I previously ruled out the center caps. I only took them off one side and drove it and the clicking noise must have echoed under the truck and made me think that it was not it. Da ! so i took silicone adhesive with pinched fingers around the edge of the cap and made what looked like a factory o-ring and let it dry for 24 hrs. then put them back and its gone, no more distracted driving. Now I can go back to what I was doing, looking for an excavation job !! (if any body knows of any one lookin for a Heavy Equipment Operator or a Semi Truck Driver preferably in the dirt bizz I've been in it for 23 years and I am cheap) Thanks HummerMech

I've had this same problem with a '00 h1. The clicking stops the instant I put any pressure on the brake. My mechanic told me it is the brake pad rattling and said its pretty common but offered no solutions to fix this and it is driving me crazy. Has anyone found a solution to that problem?

My 92 and 94 have brake noise issues but none of the later model trucks I have had experience those issues. I believe they changed the brake system in 95 and eliminated the pad chattering issue. All my late model two piece wheels make the ticking noise.
