Default Changing the Oil...

I have an '07 H3X and it't time for its first oil change (actually a LITTLE late as I have 8k miles instead of the suggested 7k). I wanted to do it myself cause I don't want some Jiffee Loob (spelled incorrectly to protect the guilty) dinging up my Hummer. Well, I crawled under and look down in and I don't see how you can get to the oil filter w/o taking off the H3 Plate and the other protective black plate; that just seems silly. Anyone else change their own oil? How do you get to the oil filter?

Thanks!

Thanks for the link. Since it's a bit of a task I think I'll use Mobil 1 synthetic so I don't have to do it as often.

Had mine done with Castrol Synthetic at the local Wallyworld for $54. My co pays up to $75 for a 4x4 oil change, so why not?

7000 miles? That is the suggested miles for an oil change? I thought 5000 was pushing it...... Can this be correct? Not doubting you just the 1st I have heard of this.
