Default Changing Engine Oil

Hello everyone! Has anyone tackled changing their oil on their h2? It's something I want to start doing as I no longer trust the jiffy lube places! If anyone has a reference (online) that I can refer to please advise. From what I'm hearing I may have to remove the skid plate to access the oil pan etc?? Is this correct? Also does the motor require 5 or 6 qts? Anyway, I'm all ears so please advise with what knowledge you have. Thanks ahead of time!

6 quarts and taking the skid plate off makes for less mess. It also gives you a chance to inspect other things. That's how I found out my front differential was leaking and had a bad seal.

There is no need to take the skidplate off. The drainplug on the pan and the filter are accessible without the removal of skids.

I never remove my skidplate to change the oil. It's one of the easiest vehicles to change the oil on. Make sure to get a good grease gun and lube all the grease zerks.

I know some do not take the skid plate off but I do. I can see everything else and can inspect and clean well. I have done it a few times with the skid plate on and got oil all over it. I buy 6 quarts of mobil one and a wixx filter. Only the best for my H2. If anyone knows of better let me know. I want the best for mine.
Anyways it takes 6 quarts and its pretty easy to change. I would highly suggest taking the skid plate off. It makes it easier for me and I wont have a mess on the skid plate. Plus I like to inspect everything and wash my skid plate everytime I do a service.
Just my opinion!
