Default Catastrophic Failure! Help!

First time posting, been on here since i got my H3 last summer, never really needed to much till now, mostly just browsed.

Anywho,

I recently had a failing solenoid in my transmission, took it to a local transmission shop here in VT where the shop owner also said the tranny was filled with water. After 2 weeks, got it back with a fresh rebuild.

I put roughly 150 miles on it since friday, but then today, driving down the interstate for the first time since the rebuild, I started to feel a heavy vibration, and within 5 minuites i felt and heard a loud noise, definately felt like something let go, I pulled over to the shoulder, got out, looked underneath, and didnt see to much. It was pouring rain, and i didnt get under the car, I kinda just looked under it for a second, I saw a little bit of fluid on the skidplate under the T-Case, after contemplating what to do for a few minuites, I limped it to the next exit, and stopped at a repair shop. The mechanic threw it up on the lift, and I could see in his face it was bad. The transmission casing had hairline cracks in multiple spots, as did the transfer case. He walked towards the back of the vehicle, and then noticed where the output shaft comes out of the T-Case was shattered, and the U-Joint was frozen. I called the transmission shop, and they are going to flatbed it back tomorrow to take a better look. My question is, are they responsible for this? I never had any issues before the tranny quit the first time, Ive never really been in a situation like this before, and im not sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Its an 07 Base, with 90K miles. Automatic

Unless it is not transmission related I would say they are responsible and they did something wrong

Agreed.... I would think so.. They probably did something wrong or forgot to do something or put something back in. If they try squirming, put the pressure on.

Did you sign a repair INVOICE??????? How about reading it, all of it, like you should have done before having any work started.

Most reputable shops here will give you a limited warranty on their parts and labor, like 90 days. Since we have no clue what kind of repair contract you entered into, how could we answer your question?

X2 read the front (and back) of the repair order. I do it every time!

It will mention a warranty period on either parts or labor maybe both.

Transmission shop got it today, The repair invoice i got gives me a 12/12. (12K miles, or 12 months) Anyways, he says the damage was caused from the U-Joint, the T-Case is destroyed, but he says he will fix the transmission, he did not have a definitive answer on whether or not he will fix the rest on his dime. (I am dealing directly with the owner). However, he admitted to me that they were short handed, and never had a chance to road test my vehicle before i took it. If a U-Joint was the seized... and he connected that shaft back to the T-Case, isint it their responsibility to atleast look at what they are putting together?

The guy is feeding you a load of crap to try and minimize his liability. A u joint it will snap long before your tranny and transfer will grenade itself over it.
I would be demanding an independent complete teardown of the trans and transfer to find out what actually let go.
