Dave who are the other H1 owners that you know of? (east coast, and you mentioned Long Island specifically) seeing if I can entice them to come along with us to RC...

 

I already purchased the truck through a consignment deal. I had to do everything over the phone and internet because i am in iraq right now. they had to nextday air some documents to my wife to sign with a power of attorney. then next day air them back to washington state. they should have gotten them already or maybe first thing monday morning. once they get them it will be put on a transporter to go meet me in NC on my mid-tour leave next week.

 

There are a handful. Brandon, Dave Peresh and a few others. They aren't on this forum though. They go on humvee.net. Dave P doesn't hit the forum often. Brandon does.

 

Joe, hope the truck is as described. Get home safe and let us know what you think when you have spent a little time with the truck. Tough decision, spend the time with the wife or the new truck......

I cant even imagine not loving it. I have logged tens of thousands of miles in M996's, M998'S, M1114'S, M1151'S, and the newest model, the M1152. That has a really smart inovation on it. The fan is shaft driven off the motor and mounted parallel to the radiator. there is a U-joint that makes the turn upward. Really improves cooling, more efficient!. Plus there is motor and suspension upgrades from teh M1151. But we all know that the mil-spec HMMWV's are nowhere near as nice as the H1's. This has been an 11 year dream that I have been working towards. Cant wait to start it up for the first time!!! BTW when it comes to the wife and kids......we are outdoorsy people. We currently use her Eddie Bauer Expedition for all of our camping trips into the Smoky Mountains of NC and TN, along with local trips to the lake, river, and Uwharrie Mountins in central NC. She sure doesnt like those pin stripes that are left after a long weekend in the woods. You all are very welcome. I love my job. Been at it for 10 years now. Its a blast. Airborne!!
