Anyone with an '08 backup camera system been able to modify the system to keep it energized while in Drive as well as Reverse? I gave it a shot today without success. FYI,below is the schematic.

 

I would like to do the same. Mine is wired to the back up lights. When you put it in drive the picture goes to snow!![:@] So you have to turn it off unless you're backing up! Good luck. I hope you get an answer.

It appears to me all the power line in the rear are not hot all the time. Brake light, Back up and night time light wires are periotic.

 

The camera/monitor are energized via the reverse switch circuitso tapping into that signal would probably do the trick. I'd heard the '09 might have on-demand rearview camera functionality so I figured they reconfigured the engagement to reverse and/or manual input (dash button or programming option) to allow the driver to select the mode.

Iplaced a jumper from hot to what appears to be the shifter energizer pin on the connector for the camera control module behind the dash but, no cigar. I tried a couple more combinations without any luck. The bu camera/monitor combo are only activated with the reverse switch at the shifter.

 

Post the Schematic for the exterior lights, to see where the wiring is going.

 

Wish I could - I don't have a manual. The above one came from another H3 owner. I am currently looking to be the e-version.
