I don't drive as much at night any more, but I was just thinking of doing this last night on the way home.

the diode turns on fog relay when headlights are on.
it makes a big difference. be careful not to damage relay sockets when adding diode. it gets squeesed by the relay pins as you reinstall the relays.

I have an 06 and I can turn on the fog lights while running the headlights. Is this normal? I didn't change anything in the lights wiring other than pulling the Daytime Running Lights fuse. However, when I turn on the brights, the fog lamps turn off.

Are you running the brights w/ fog lamps?

Standard is that the fogs will work when the low beams are on, but not when high beams are on. The diode trick allows the fogs to stay on even when the high beams are on, although if I remember correctly, they will blink off momentarily during the transition from high/low and low/high.

Abel Electronics over in your neck of the woods Doc
Abel Electronics | Retail Store

F.Y.I. Radio Shack at Masonic & Gratiot has them in stock #2761102, or if you go to Abel, ask for a 1N4003 micro 1-amp diode.
(retirement bores me sometimes so I did the leg work for you)

its nothing special, any diode like 1 amp that will fit.
you want small wires so u dont distort the relay socket connectors.
any electronic parts store u can find, although they are vanishing, lots of mail order companies but shipping for one is a killer. find a ham radio guy or club, they all have tons of parts,,,i know!!
