Default Braking issue

Recently, my H3 has been "chugging" (for lack of a better term) when I brake. Basically, when I press the brake, the H3 "chugs" as it declines in speed. It is very noticeable and happens any just about any speed. Anyone else have this problem, or know what it might be? For reference, I have an '07 and it just broke 100k miles. Thanks!

I just had to replace my rear rotors and pads for the same symptoms listed by the OP. One of my rear rotors actually had a rusty area on one surface where the pad was obviously not making contact which was causing the pulsation.

Many times the rotors aren't actually "warped", but rather brake pad material has been unevenly distributed on the surface of the rotor making the run-out excessive. In otherwords there are thick and thin spots when measuring with a micrometer which cause the pulsating brake pedal when stopping.

Did you clean and re-grease the caliper guide pins with a high-temp lube before you re-installed the calipers?
If not, your caliper may hang up on them causing uneven wear and cause the brakes to pulsate.

I didnt "clean" them....i ran my fingers over the guides to get the rust off. i assumed that they were wearing uneven also but both pads on both sides where evenly worn.

Calipers would cause this, raise and properly secure the vehicle, spin all the wheels and check for brake drag. Very common for the front calipers as they are quad piston. GL

Thanks for all the advice. Its good to know that it seems to be common.

Doc: I had all new brake pads and rotors replaced at around 65k.
