so, i got rearended, then the cd changer jammed. now after about 20 hours it is dead. a quik jump gets it going and its normal till next day.
alt checks good exactly as before. current drain is the same as before. right now after unhooking it over night it read 12v+ and started as normal. drain is normal and the volts drift down very slowly as before. 12v after 3-4 hours.
ill check hourly.
oh, i pulled the radio and amp fuses and replaced them while monitoring drain and saw nothing out of order.?? radio sounds great as before.

im prepared with a 2nd batt and jumper wire but this is frustrating not knowing whats next,never having a problem before.

still looking for input on stuck cd changer. it goes blank,then back to radio with zero action on cd.

 

On off chance could you have a short it the rear wiring?
Say for instance the towing package or brake assembly.

no, shorts blow fuses or smoke wires. nothing drastic or even minor shows up in volt/drain test. it was dead again after 4-6 hours so i switched it out and connected the good spare in. will check in morning to see if the good one gets drained ??

again when i check drain it is as it always was,appx 110 ma.

the main original may just be dying but its really cooincidental...if so..

 

When batteries get old the plates get very thin. A good bump or jolt can break them loose and basically end the life of the battery.

 

pulled the 6cd head end and took apart,partly from clues on youtube.
i could see slight differences in the stack of cds but not enuf to get good pix.
as i carefully touched each cd i noticed one out of place slightly.

i pushed it in like the others and gently bumped the unit to "loosen" up the works.
when reinstalled it let me eject all 6 and reload, and it plays like new!!

so i am not opening the batt cable tonight. if its ok in morn ill ASSume it was the cd somehow draining the batt.
