Default Bad front drive shaft?

Should my front drive shaft be able to spin by hand with all 4 tires on the ground and in park?

I just replaced my transfer case but I am still having an issue. The front drive shaft does not spin in drive. The part on the transfer case does spin. It looks like Mt boot is completely gone on the yoke. Do I just need to replace the drive shaft? Or is it a larger issue?

Video would be very useful.
Rebuilding the drive shaft is doable but patience is needed. Good set of tools and some ingenuity.
I've done it and Lucas Green Xtra thick and tacky is the bomb.

In park or not the front drive shaft should not spin with your front wheels on the ground.
The front drive shaft has a U-joint at the differential, and a CV joint at the transfer case end. Sounds like your CV joint is bad. You can buy and change just the CV joint. Not a bad job.

The cv joint is definitely bad from looking at it. Its torn all the way around. Just purchased a new cv joint, the job looks easy. Thank you so much!

Please make doubley sure that the clip locks in on the CV. And never get under a Hummer h3 without blocking the wheels when the front drive shaft is out.ask me how I learned that one.

We actually ended up having to buy a whole front drive shaft. When we took it out, the cv joint fell off on its own. It was so bad it completely wore down all the teeth marks on the drive shaft. I'd definitely say that was our problem. But we did have something under the wheels. We noticed the easy movement when we did the transfer case.
