Default anyone here work on heating?

I need to replace the pressure relief valve (leaking) on my gas boiler and need to know what I have to do before replacing it. Would shutting the furnace and pump off be enough or do I have to relieve all the pressure in the system somehow?

I think there is about 15 psi on the other side of that and the valve unseats at whatever it is...

Turn off the water supply, drain it and then you should be ok...

Thanks Muddy...I can't find one locally so I ordered on online, just gotta wait for it to come in and deal with the floods[:@]
The valve is set to unseat at 50 psi and the gauge which is on the boiler right before the valve is reading 35-40 but I'm asuming that once I turn off the furnace and the water temp cools the pressure will also drop. I hope so cause I don't want to drain the whole system...it's a royal PITA to fill back up with no air in the lines.

I did a couple searches online... but you might have more luck doing it with your model numbers if you already haven't...

The HVAC guys have some awesome forums... I lurked on a few before I decided to cut the check for this new Carrier system I had installed for the upstairs zone in my house... and I'd probably go back when the downstairs system needs replaced...

turn off supply and return valves, boiler feed and expansion tank valve, open relief valve to release pressure, screw it off and put new one back on. Turn pressure back on and open new relief valve to blow out any air.Show me a picture of your system for better instructions. Hope this helps
