All the info known to man kind is in the Head and Valve Issue (sticky) thread here https://www.hummerforums.com/forum/s...ght=head+valve
Got insomnia, give it ALL a read.
Trucks with a vin number before/lower than 68287591 (last eight of vin) might be effected.
With the release of the new hardened cylinder heads on engines manufactured after March 31, 2006, the problem was corrected. Engine manufactured before that date COULD have the cylinder head problem. However, NOT ALL WILL have the problem. Some vehicles manufactured after that date may still have a valve or head problem, but it will not be the identical problem that was the subject of the TSB and extended warranty for those vehicles within that vin range.
From what I can see, most of the problems occured early, like before 25k.

Hi everybody,
thanks for all your postings! So today I called in two dealerships here in Bay Area, one in Concord and the second in Dublin, and asked them about the head issue. They both told me that ALL H3 no matter what year are covered with their special policy - 7 years or 100.000mil whatever comes first. THAT'S GREAT! Can anybody else contact their service and confirm that as well? They told me that I don't need to sing up anything and the head is automaticaly covered!

I can confirm those two steelerships you talked to are wrong. The warranty for 2007 and newer H3s is 5yrs/100,000 miles. The 2006s have 4yrs/50,000 miles, except that they extended the cylinder head issues only to 5yrs/100,000.
Sounds to me the hose bags you talked to were describing what an "extended" warranty plan you pay for and they sell you covers.

Thanks Doc Olds,
I was talking to the dealership about the extended warranty also and they told me if they would be me, they would not get and pay for the extended warranty just because of the head, becausse I'm covered with their special policy up to 100k miles/7years. I have only 3years/50k miles warrantyon my H3 and it's gonna expire soon. So now I'm even more confused...

plus I may be getting the wife an H3... but that thing will see alot of offroad and if the stealership tries to void any warranty they'll have one good fight on their hands
when you buy a vehicle MADE and MARKETED as one of THE BEST O/R vehicles you damm well better be able to use it as such with the warranty not affected. with the price tag that comes with a new Hummer they should have a HELL of a warranty.
im with you guys i beleive in using a vehicle for its purpose, BUT if you think for a minute gm would warranty a truck with mud where it shouldnt be your crazy? do you think they want to pay for warranty? all they have to do is deny it do a you tube search and voila , your honor my cleints would like to show you some video on this truck. it seems the 2 yutes like offroading lol. case dismissed
bog on i think theyre awesome

Trucks get dirty, and I do think for a buch of minutes that GM/Hummer will warranty your broken driveline components even if muddy. We had DosMangos bust a front half shaft, ripped out the busted one, installed a trail spare, wheeled the rest of the day, and Hummer replaced his half shaft and upper A arm under waranty, and gave him back the trail spare for the next outing.
Too many warranty paranoid wooses around here me thinks.
You should see how fast the Hummer warrants your broken parts at The Hummer Club outings..... amazing would describe it. We had on of our guys bust a front half shaft on his H2 at the AM General off road training course, was back at the trails within the hour. Had a hydralocked H1 back up and running before we all had dinner.
