I had the dealer add a cold air intake to my Z when I first got it so I didn't notice any power difference but NISMO claims its a gain of 10-15. I am curious what everyone else has to say about this though because I am thinking of getting one for the Hummer pretty soon. Personally I have been looking at the K & N one but I know there are hundreds more out there.

"K&N 63 SERIES AIRCHARGER COLD AIR INTAKE KIT -- Reusable Filter Lasts Longer, Produces An Additional 11.42 Horsepower At 4524 Rpm, Increases Fuel Mileage, More Economical And Easy To Install, Larger Filter Area Can Increase Service Intervals Up To 100, 000 Miles, With Million Mile Manufacturer's Warranty, Not Street Legal In California, Replacement Filter Part Number Rp-5103"

I wonder why it's not street legal in CA. That really sucks. Stupid CA, nothing like hearing something will get you better gas mileage and they shoot you down.

I WAS LOOKING AT TRUE FLOW AND I LIKE THAT U KEEP THE FACTORY AIR BOX ANY ONE HAVE THIS? . True Flow air intake systems are a unique departure from traditional air intake systems. The factory air box is left intact keeping the airflow cooler while protecting the filter from debris and moisture. The factory filter is replaced with one of our foam, high flow, lifetime filters. Finally we eliminate the factory air tube, which can have restrictive mufflers or resonators and replace them with our high flow, powder coated mandrel tubes and reinforced silicone couplers to maximize velocity.

True Flow kits are easy to install and maintain. Each kit contains the necessary hardware required to install, (like our custom fiberglass reinforced silicone couplers and stainless steel worm clamps). No modifications are needed, and all factory breathers, sensors and hoses are left intact.
With True Flow’s Sealed Air Intake You Get:
• Gains of up to 19 horse power and 37 foot pounds of torque
• Increased air flow by as much as 25 percent
• Awesome engine protection with True Flow’s Premium Air Filter
• Great looks and sound
• Quick and Easy Install
• Power and Efficiency

I have Volant, only because K&N did not make one for the 3.7l at the time. Plus I think the K&N does away with air box entirely, making it not so good if you off road much.

Not sureof a HP increase from CAI alone because I did the PCM tune and Gibson cat-back install allat the same time.

Volant is one of the nicer looking CIA's too.

I have the K&N. It adds a noticable difference. The ones that use the stock airbox wouldn't seem to give you much of an advantage--You still have to suck through the same intake hole in the lower half of the box. It is very tiny....barely bigger than a silver dollar. JMO, though. I am sure any of them are better than stock. It will benoticably louder, so if you don't want noise you better keep it stock.

Gofaster, I don't know where are you looking but the air intake to the filter box is about 3" in Dia.

Lucky, I have the True Flow installed on mine, there is a noticeable improvement in HP not really in MPG, the main reason I went with the True Flow is exactly for the reason that you keep the OEM filter box, allot less chances of getting water and debris in it, I'm very happy with the True Flow.

Edit: Here is your "3in. diameter"intake hole.....It's not quite 1.75 inches . So, I don't know where you are looking............
