H3 Brush Guards
This is really getting interesting (and confusing). Bunger, I opened that website, and the "GM Grille Guard" in the upper right corner, is the first ad I've seen that actually refers to GM part #17801625 as a stainless steel guard. Every other website selling that part no. just calls it 'chrome plated'. I was going to buy this guard:
2006-2010 HUMMER H3 Brush Grille Guard Chrome 17801625 GENUINE OEM GM NEW | eBay I called and spoke to the seller at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet, and he told me the 2 vertical uprights are DEFINITELY chrome plated plastic, and the rest of the guard appears to be chrome plated steel....yet, it's the same GM part no. as in Adventures website???? Hunner's is definitely all metal, but if you look at his 4th pic, along the left inside edge, it looks like rust, so it doesn't seem to be stainless. I found this one on E-bay, and ordered it. 06-09 HUMMER H3 FRONT BUMPER CHROME BRUSH GRILLE GUARD | eBay I called, and they assured me it was 100% stainless, and no plastic. Looking closely at their pic, pretty much confirms the 'no plastic', because you can see where the verticals are welded. For the price of $325 delivered, compared to all the others running $600 - $800 delivered, I figured it'd be worth a shot. I'll let you guys know when I get it. (by the way, they've got 1 left). I appreciate everyone's help in trying to sort out this mystery.

Only 300's grade SS will not rust. 400's can but not very fast as plain steel. 400's is most used in automotive cases.

The actual OEM brush guard was chrome, and used plastic at least through 2008.

Dealers often installed look a likes because they were cheaper, but not necessarily lower in quality. The one Hunner got is way better than the plastic upright version.

sorry forgot about this thread but was looking to price a black oem guard I have to sell and saw a link to this, you can find anything on google! lol
Yes my NEW never owned 2008 Alpha came from the dealer with this guard on there. I do recall a separate "dealer added options" sticker that listed this thing and I believe it was over $600. It came off as soon as I got home and the winch went on as well as the chrome tubular side steps.
I slept since I sold it but I got a premium price for it or it would have stayed on the wall!
