Alpha Airdoc Problems
OK so I have been trying to install my Airdoc on my 2008 Alpha for a few hours now and no matter what I do I can not get the clearance needed for the fan. Every blade hits, and I have removed the intake and re-installed it several different times. Starting to seem like my only options are to dremel every blade of the fan or try cutting some of the 90° bend off..or just saying screw it and just put the factory intake back on. Has anyone else had issues I'm their 2008???
I have two of them ,one is on a 2008 ALPHA and I was able to get sufficient clearance by rotating the tube as described in the instructions. The other is on a CHAMPIONSHIP EDITION and I wasn't able to get clearance until I trimmed the top and passenger side of the elbow just a bit where it attaches to the throttle body. Not a lot of clearance is necessary as the fan flexes forward When rotating. Good luck!
I believe a while back someone looked up the vin# for me and told me mine was a alpha with the championship package, so that might be the issue I am having as well. I tried rotating the tube with no luck s far, I will get back out there and work on it after I get back from baby gender reveal party this afternoon
There may be some differences in the 90 degree elbow from the manufacturer. You may need to trim a hair off of the throttle body side of the elbow. Truthfully this is the first time I have read about an issue with the AirDoc Alpha intake. Did you call or contact them? They have great customer service.
Hey Tainter, you are right and I am totally aware that the ALPHA and CE are fundamentally the same. Some differences between the same model do exist such as mount crush, bracket positioning etc.. A good example: I had a '07 that the upper radiator tank rubbed the cross panel until I trimmed it. My '08 had about 1/16 clearance and I was able to just remove the bracket , elongate the bolt hole and reposition it. My CE has ample clearance (plenty of room for the foam seal without cutting it).
Ordieh, it looks as if you are talking about the difference between an 08 and 09 Alpha. There where slight changes every year of the H3 production. Even from 09-10 the engine cover changed a little bit. Nothing to to do with Alpha VS CE. 09 Alpha OEM replacement parts will be an exact fit on the 09 CE except for the shocks and steering wheel.
Specially painted Ultra Silver Metallic Alphas with locking F&R diffs and the 4.03:1 T-case where delivered to the Modification Facility (I forget the name, the sticker should be on your driver door) where they removed some parts and bolted on parts (flares, grill, red calipers, red specially tuned shocks, etc.) and a hood sticker (which I like).
That is not to say it isn't a special rig, which it IS. With only 500 made and it's not just a cosmetic thing like the "tactical edition".

I did contact Airdoc about it and they do have great customer service. I trimmed some of elbow and got it to fit. I did take a dremel and knocked off the tips of my fan blades just to be safe. Definitely worth the money, you can feel the difference.
UOTE=TAINTER;342797]X2, exactly the same vehicle except for the Champ add-ons.

Tainter, no I was just talking about the slight differences that can exist between supposedly identical vehicles (especially body parts and panels). I am well aware of the uniqueness of the CE. I ordered one and was the first person to drive it after the transport driver backed it off the carrier. The code for HANDLING CHARGE SHREVEPORT ASM TO SPECIALTY VEHICLE ENGINEERING AMERICA is SHV on the build sheet. I ordered the lux interior and it is identical to my '08 X ALPHA except for the absence of the ALPHA badging.
