I could be wrong..But that looks like a charcoal canister to sniff the gasoline vapors off the top of the fuel tank..More EPA crappola to keep gasoine fumes frome venting to the atmosphere..

yea, looks like an emmision canister. or some sort of evaporator. I don't think removing it would cause any codes or any motor problems but would more than likely effect your emmision output come inspection time.

No inspections in Florida... YAY!! lol.I'm going to be taking it down to get the exhaust modified and getting rid of the catalytic converter and getting a straight pipe installed.

There is still a Cat in the exhaust manifold too...But now theLambda sensors will be affected too.

I bought the K&N AirCharger intake for my 07 thinking it would fit... I stopped at the air sensor. I knew that was a deal breaker.

A few days later I was looking at the air dam on the K&N and realized it wasn't just the mass air sensor, had I been able to get the intake to fit I would have ran into the emission canister thingie that vents back to the intake. Apparently the 07 is way different than the 06. I'm sure it must be smog related because now that I think about it I was on the dealer lot looking at some 06's they had while shopping for my new H3.

I was looking at the stickers on the window showing the prices, etc. I noticed the 07 had a smog emission less than half of the 06 model. I didn't think anymore about it at the time, but now it makes sense with the canister going back into the intake is a good way of limiting smog emissions.

I forget the legend on how much emissions but it seemed like the 07 model had a 0.6 emission and the 06 model had like 1.2 or 1.3.

So.... I now I see why K&N hasn't released a CAI for the 07H3. They may be waiting to see if the 08 model stays with the 3.7 or goes up to a V6 or V8 or deisel.

I heard back from K&N but not the folks I bought the CAI from.... K&N said they should take it back, that it was an honest mistake on my part.. So I hope I can get it back and buy something else.

I'm not real keen on using the AirRaid, it looks like the only thing it replaces is the filter box and filter and it leaves the resonator box and accordian type intake tubing.

I may give the TrueFlow system a look. I have never heard of them before, I think before I order one I'll have to get some good testimonials first.

In the mean time, I may opt for a K&N replacement filter over my stock paper filter.
