Air Filter Box Cracking?
Has anyone had their airbox replaced? Taking it in to have that evalutated and the front diff, crossing fingers and hoping extended GMPP will cover it 91K miles now. It's cracked all the way around the tube going out to the MAF sensor. When you jiggle that tube you can see light penetrating through while looking from the inside of the box, could be from over tightening of the air filter clamp, who knows.
GM Parts Direct has them for $105 + shipping. A lot cheaper than having the dealer replace it but they (GM Parts Direct) do sometimes take a while for special order items (not sure if this is one of them). Another option is to get an aftermarket cold air intake that has an airbox such as a Volant. I have that a love it. They are about $300 new but I got mine for $150 so you can find them for cheaper if you look around.
If you just need the tube that goes to the air box a stock one from GM Parts Direct is $35.68. Or you can get an AirDoc for $150 (which I would recommend). Much more airflow and you can keep the stock air box. There is also an older thread that has instructions for building your own high flow air intake tube for something like $60.
