Default AC Question

I purchased a 2008 H3 Alpha recently knowing that the AC didn't work. Took it to a local AC/Radiator shop that has a good reputation and they replaced the evaporator coil which had a crack. When I picked the H up and was driving home I noticed a hissing sound in the dash behind the glove box. The hissing happened every 15-20 seconds and only lasted a few seconds. Took it back to shop and they checked the new expansion block? and replaced the condenser but the noise still happens.

Since I never heard the AC working my question is if this is a normal sound in the H3?
If noise isn't normal I guess the new evaporator coil could be bad?

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

Max,

I have noticed my 06 H3 with 64k miles makes an odd hissing noise while the a.c. is on. Every 2 to 5 minutes I hear a release of air from behind the glove box. I always wondered what caused it, but never looked into it because my air has always been extremely cold.

My 06 does the same. A/C Works great, but hissing sound every 15 - 20 sec. (pressure release type sound). Had it at the dealer about 5 years ago for the hissing, the tech said nothing was wrong with the A/C, and that many make the same noise just some are louder than others.

ABnormal sounds are rarely normal. some one often comes here and says,"thats normal, they all do it". in each and every case i try to duplicate it, and cannot.
im thinking my normal h3 is,,is,,abnormal!!

scuse the lines. i dont know how to do stuff here.
and i never make up stuff. i figure if you hear something, go for a ride in any other car and see if it does it. all modern cars are made to be relatively quiet,no buzz,no clik,no hiss,no vacume leaking sounds.
i hear tire sounds. at 45000. with no rotation i guess its normal!

Maybe if the vent acuators are controlled by vaccume maybe you got a small hole or something. I have an 06 and do not notice any hissing behind my dash. Good luck.

as far as i know everything that moves is moved by a computer controlled stepper motor with feedback sensors. nothing left to chance,no sir!!
i guess wire and elex is cheaper than vacume tubing.

Well that's good not much of a fan of the vaccume actuators. Can't thin of what could be hissing back there. Good luck!

It appears you got robbed. First off, evap. cores do not "crack", unless you total the rig. 2nd, why did they replace the condenser, when it is not related to your concern? Your noise would be coming from an inadequate repair on the evaporator core, and you should take it back to them, to make it right! GL
